Lorde has made Time's annual list of 2013's "16 "Most Influential Teens." The 17-year-old is being praised by the magazine for "forging her own path" and rocketing to "international fame" in the span of a year.
As a testament to her songwriting talent, it also mentions how New York City Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio used her hit "Royals" to walk onto the stage when he won his election. The song is currently spending its seventh straight week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Lorde is the only musician on the list apart from Justin Bieber, who Time refers to as "an industry to himself" with a value of 58-million dollars.
Tech prodigy Nick D'Aloisio, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Malala Yousafzai, Malia Obama and actresses Chloe Grace Moretz and Hailee Steinfeld all made the list as well.
